Hersey David Ferguson, 82 of East Moline died November 20, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline or the Kidney Foundation.
Hersey was born December 17, 1922 in Newsom, VA to Hersey David and Nellie Roundtree Ferguson. He married Betty Lou Foster on September 30, 1943 at Westhaven Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA.
Hersey was a welder for 37 years at the John Deere Foundry, East Moline.
Hersey was a WWII Army veteran.
Hersey was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline where he was an usher and greeter.
Hersey was a member of the UAW Local #81, he served on the Carbon Cliff TIF Council, vice president of the John Deere Foundry Retirees Union, he was an election board judge, Mayor Protempore to the Village of Carbon Cliff, was apart of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of Illini Hospital and was a very active member of the former Optimist Club in Carbon Cliff. In his spare time, Hersey enjoyed woodworking.
