Hilda Enderton

July 11, 1918 — June 22, 2016

Hilda Evelina was born to Hilma & John Johnson on July 11, 1918 in Cadillac, Michigan. She met the love of her life, Willard Enderton at a Roller Skating Rink and married him on October 12th, 1944. They then moved to Moline, Illinois where Bill worked for 42 years at John Deere and Hilda worked as a secretary/bookkeeper. They raised their 3 children, Janice, Richard & Susan and were very active at Elim Covenant Church. Bill & Hilda loved to travel and Hilda continued this love even after Bill passed in 1996. From exotic locales in Europe, a cruise down the Amazon, to trips to visit family and friends, wherever the car was going she wanted to jump in and travel along.  Hilda was an avid crossword puzzle worker and loved to putter away on jigsaw puzzles.  But one of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with family and friends, and often would not let play end until she was winning.  She stayed sharp and active right up until the last weeks. She lived a blessed and full life.  She was sure of where she will spend eternity, in God’s presence, because of her abiding faith. She passed away on Wednesday, June 22nd surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her daughter, Jan Hasty; her siblings Bertha (Earnest) Walters, Emma (Paul) Prothero, Harold Johnson, and (Herb) Swanson; as well as her brother-in-law Robert Nelson; and many friends and dear fellow church family members. She is survived and celebrated by her children: (Jim) Hasty, Richard (Bodil) Enderton, Susan (Paul) Amundson; grandchildren: Jason (Mirna) Hasty, Jodi (Patrick) Rhyne, Jacob (Lisa) Amundson, Maria Enderton, Sarah Amundson, Jenny (Chris) Brown, Julie Hasty, Daniel Enderton, Rebekah (Martin) Liu, and Abigail Amundson; her great-grand-stepson, Drew Rhyne; her great-grand daughters: Emma Rhyne, Charlotte Amundson, Grace Rhyne, Claire Amundson and Evalina Liu; her siblings: (Joyce) Johnson, Ruth Swanson, Richard (Barbara) Johnson, sister-in-law Marge Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to count. She will be greatly missed and always loved.

Memorial Service will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th at Elim Covenant in Moline with Visitation starting at 2 and a dinner to follow.  In lieu of flowers you can make a contribution in Hilda’s name to Elim Covenant Church, Moline, IL or Calvary Bible Church, Neenah, WI.
