Hugo P. Steigman

Hugo P. Steigman, age 81, of East Moline, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Regional Parkinson Center, 945 North 12th St. Ste. 4602, Milwaukee, WI 53233; WQPT; or to The Elderhostel Annual Fund, P.O. Box 844027, Boston, MA 02284.
Hugo was born November 7, 1926 in Berkeley, CA, the son of Emanuel and Bianca Berna (Peyser) Steigman. He graduated from Berkeley High School and received his Masters Degree from the San Francisco State College. He married Barbara J. Reynolds on September 11, 1982 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
He was a World War II Navy veteran serving from June 1944-July 1946. Hugo was employed with several school districts in California, finishing his career as a School Administrator for low incidence programs for 12 years at Tulare County Department of Education, retiring in 1982. Hugo was a lifetime member of Order of Daedalians (the national fraternity of military pilots); past member of California Teachers and California Administrators Association; and former member of the Rock Island County Historical Society, where he briefly served on the board. He was an active member of the Q.C. Times Plus 60 Club. He and his wife were active in many Elderhostels. He enjoyed reading and building model ships.
