In loving memory of Ida M. (Gilbert) Thompson who passed away on August 16, 2005 at Oak Glen Home, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.
There will be no services. Per her wishes Ida's body has been cremated. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. assisted the family.
Ida was born May 4, 1921 in Davenport, IA to Jesse Carter and Caroline Woehrle Wolfe. She married Stan Johnson on February 23, 1939, Clarence Gilbert on August 16, 1946 and she later married Harold Thompson on January 29, 1972.
Ida, volunteered many hours at hospitals mostly in California. She enjoyed caring for others and helping anyone who was in need.
Ida was a strong and loving mother of three girls; Dorothy Forgie, Davenport; Carol Alberti, Coal Valley; and Cindy Kerr, California; and one son Richard Gilbert of Davenport. Other survivors include:
10 grandchildren; Debbie, Chris, Kim, Bill, Tammy, Michelle, Gretchen, Joseph, Justine and Christopher; 15 great grandchildren; Donald, Michael, William, Matthew, Robert, Mindy, Alyssa, Xana, Carin, Austin, Shey, Beau, Kaleb, Gwen and Taylor, one great great grandchild; Rhiannon, four brothers; Carter, Chester, Henry and Ronald, one sister Marie Durham and a special friend Ron Costa.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, brother Richard and four sisters Hazel, Helen, Carrie and Beverly.
