Inez Larson

December 18, 1918 — October 10, 2013

Inez E. Larson, 94, of Orion, died Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Private family funeral services will be held. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301-4th St., Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church.

Inez Elizabeth Larson was born on December 30, 1918, in Green River, Illinois, to Emil and Elizabeth Baker Johnson. She attended Green River School and graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1936. She married Lawrence O. Larson of Clark, South Dakota, on August 6, 1942, at the First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo. He preceded her in death. Together they farmed for 41 years near Orion. They raised thousands of hogs, and in later years they bred and raised Purebred and Registered Angus Show Cattle.

She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church. In her earlier years, Inez was an active member of the Women's Society serving as President and in other offices. She also served as a girls' 4-H Club Leader. Inez was also the first host mother for the Orion School District's foreign exchange student program, hosting student Jo Valentine. Lawrence and Inez spent over 10 years traveling the U.S. and abroad including a trip to Norway and Sweden, the homelands of their parents. Inez enjoyed several card clubs and was also a member of the Orion Senior Citizens, serving in several offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
