Irene Peters Buckley, 91, of Orion died September 3, 2007 at her home.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Friends and relatives are invited to join Irene's family to share memories at the luncheon after the mass. Memorials may be made to March of Dimes or the Breast Cancer Association. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Irene was born May 15, 1916 in Pleasant Valley, IA to Edmond and Elodie (DeWispeleaere) Peters. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport. She attended St. Ambrose University and then went on to graduate from Moline Business College. She married Melvin A. Buckley on August 24, 1939 in Moline. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1990.
After working at Moline Consumers, she joined her husband working at the family business, R& I Feed in Orion. She was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace where she was a past member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas. She was involved with Girl Scouts when her daughters were younger and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed shopping for them.
