Irene May Baldwin Hellman, age 92, of Moline, died Friday, November 15, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at First Covenant Church, 3303-41st Street, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial of cremains at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal will be at a later date. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa. Memorials may be made to St. Labre Indian School www.stlabre.org or to her church.
Irene was born September 24, 1921 in Des Moines, the daughter of William Baldwin and Irene (Wirth) Baldwin. She married Gordon Hellman on June 14, 1947 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a member of First Covenant Church in Moline. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, translating books to braille and spending time with her grandchildren.
She graduated from The University of Iowa School of Commerce and completed a Paralegal program at Marycrest College. Irene was a Certified Paralegal with the law firm Nagle, Blair and Sohr for over twenty years.
