Irene F. King, 100, of Andover died September 18, 2007 at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 with a visitation one hour prior at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, Oak Glen Home or for masses to be said in her memory.
Irene was born November 4, 1906 in Big Rock, IA to John and Elizabeth (Kahl) Zismer. She married Joe King on August 20, 1938 in Muscatine. From 1938-1979 she and her husband farmed in the Taylor Ridge area. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1993.
Irene worked at the former Servus Rubber in Rock Island for 18 years retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, IL. She enjoyed baking bread and cookies once a week for her family and friends. She was a gifted seamstress and was always up to date on current events. She had been taking care of her home and garden independently until last year at the age of 99. In her younger years she did all the electrical and siding work on her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Eugene King, her grandson-in-law Ed Brasmer and her two sisters Margaret Bell and Dorothy Dufor.
