Isaac R. Searl, 86 of Silvis, passed away March 23, 2011 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be noon , Saturday, March 26th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38 Avenue, Moline with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Garden, East Moline with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #246 in Moline. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Hospice Program or a favorite charity.
Ike was born on August 28, 1924 in Clarinda, Iowa the son of Harry and Wilma Mulkins Searl. He married Martha Francis Thompson on December 31, 1947 in Moline. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1999.
He later married VeBina Sands Knupp on May 19, 2001.
Ike was employed as an inspector at International Harvester in East Moline for 22 years, retiring in 1985. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Ike was an active member of Sacred Heart Church where he was a member of the RCIA team and sang in the choir. He was also the treasurer of the Legion of Mary. He was also a Secular Franciscan and a former active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Anne's in East Moline. He was a member of the Moline American Legion #246, the Rock Island VFW Post #1303 and
UAW 1304 of East Moline. Ike was an avid bowler, enjoyed the outdoors especially archery and fishing and did beautiful cross stitch.
