Ivan "Ike:" R. Overton, 84, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens where Military Honors will be provided by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
Ike was born on September 14, 1928, in Neponset, IL, the son of Irvin and Adelaide (Moore) Overton. He married Joan L. Francis on August 26, 1950, in Moline. Ike was an Army and Navy Veteran. He worked as a mail carrier for 36 years, retiring in 1985. While with the post office Ike held various other positions including Carl's Standard Service Station. Ike was a member of the Moline American Legion Post #246 and the VFW Post# 2153. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinal's, Green Bay Packers, and Q.C. Mallards.
