Jack G. "Uncle Poohey" Cornelius died December 18, 2007 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
In accordance with his request there will be no visitation. There will be a private family graveside service held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Jack was born August 23, 1930 in Danville, IL to Harry Frank and Gail Alice Dickson Cornelius. His family moved from Hoopeston, IL to the Quad Cities in 1946. Jack graduated from Rock Island High School and Moline Business College. He married Diane Petit on August 29, 1970 at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. He was employed at Bituminous Casualty Insurance Co. retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Memorial Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling, visiting 5 continents and 56 countries. He also enjoyed fishing, hiking, the outdoors, visiting zoos, reading, photography, lapidary work, horticulture, and music. He was a hot air balloon pilot. He was a member of the Quad Cities Civil Air Patrol.
