Jack D. "Clem" Hayden, 77 of Moline died October 1, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Rev. Peter Pappas will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7p.m. a Trisagion (prayer service) at 7:30p.m at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #246, Moline. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
Jack was born June 16, 1928 in St. Joe, Missouri to John B. and Darice Fancher Hayden. He married Evangeline Spurgetis on January 20, 1951 in Moline. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1990.
Jack was an equipment specialist for 31 years for the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired on December 31, 1983.
Jack was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a former member of St. George Greek Orothodox Church, Rock Island where he was a member of Council and was a former Church Board President in 1976. He was currently a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline.
Jack's memberships included: Moline Lodge 1014 AF&AM, KAABA Shrine where he was Potentate in 1998, Blackhawk Shrine, where he served as president in 1994, Buffalo Bill Shrine, Davenport, Moline Hi Twelve, Valley of Moline Scottish Rite & Coordinate Bodies, Moline 2nd Alarmers, T.P.A. in Rock Island, Moline VFW Post #2153, Viking Club, Moline, and American Legion Post #246 where he was a past commander and served on the honor guard.
Jack was on the Snafu bowling league, and was active with his golf league. He was also a committee member and served as a grunt for the John Deere Classsic since its origin.
