Jack R. Pierson, 71, of Sherrard, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at Genesis West Medical Center, Davenport.
Graveside Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at the Sherrard Cemetery. According to Jack's wishes his body will be cremated. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisiting the family.
Jack was born April 14, 1933 in Cambridge, Ohio, the son of Edgar Axel and Dorothy Britton Pierson. He married Cassie Hubbard in November of 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death in October of 1983. He later married Treva (Johnson) Schroeder on August 4, 1984 in Sherrard.
Jack was employed at John Deere Plow Planter as a welder, then he was employed at the Montgomery Elevator also a welder. He later worked at Case IH as a foreman. He returned to Montgomery Elevator then later to John Deere Plow Planter as a welder. Later, he was employed by Sherrard Unit #200 School District working in maintenance. He later was a grounds keeper at Rock Island Memorial Park retiring in April of 1998.
Jack was a Army veteran serving from 1953-1955. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sherrard and volunteered on the Sherrard Fire Department for 20 years. He was a former Sherrard Village Town board member. He was a member of the Moline UAW Local. He enjoyed camping and traveling.
