Jack Schwabe, 98, of Moline, IL, passed away, December 9, 2024, at Celebrate of Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the River City Church Main Auditorium (2305 7th Ave, Moline, IL 61265). Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Interment will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to River City Church, Moline.
Jack was born on August 7, 1926, in Thompsonville, IL, the son of Earl and Dolly (Galbraith) Schwabe. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during World War II, and was part of the forces that were sent over to invade Japan, serving in Okinawa.
He married Anna Fae Frailey on January 4, 1949, in Harrisburg, IL. She was the love of his life, and they had a beautiful marriage for over 75 years together.
Over the years, Jack worked as a miner in the Coal Mine, a mechanic at Gregg Young Chevy and on the Rock Island Arsenal, working there for about 2 years. Jack was also the Custodial Superintendent at the Moline Gospel Temple for 45 years, retiring in 2000.
Jack was a member of River City Church in Moline. Jack gave his life to Christ as a young teenager; he loved God and served him as a Deacon, Sunday Boys’ School Teacher, Bus Driver, and Custodial Superintendent at the Moline Gospel Temple.
Jack loved the Chicago Cubs and loved attending the Moline High School Boys’ Basketball games. Above all, Jack loved his family, especially his 3 grandchildren and he cherished all the time he spent with them.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Fae; son, Gregory (Cathy) Schwabe, Moline; granddaughters, Brittany (Mike) Williams of Moline, Marissa (Taylor) Rone of Waco, TX; grandson, Joshua A. (Tasha) Schwabe, of Palm Harbor, FL; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Karen Schwabe of Moline; daughter-in-law Shirley Schwabe of Georgetown, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dolly; son, Keith Schwabe; grandson, Matt Schwabe; sisters, Wanda Schwabe, Sadie Schwabe, and twin sister, Jean Carter; brothers, Gordon Schwabe and Earl Wayne.
Jack lived a life of integrity and serving others.
