Jack Hubbard Smith, 85, of Silvis, IL, died Friday, November 30, 2012, at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis, IL.
Per his wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jack was born on December 31, 1926, in Clayton, IL, the son of Merle and Alta "Peg" (Decker) Smith. He married Marcella Petty in 1949 in Rock Island. He later married Lila Burkholder Crotty on May 26, 1979.
Jack served in the United States Navy during WWII. Upon returning from the war, he was employed as a printer for The Daily Dispatch and later for Desaulniers Printing Co. retiring in 1983. Jack enjoyed nature and reading books by author Louis L`Amour. His true passion was fishing, whether it was wading at the Steel Dam in Milan or trips to Wisconsin and Minnesota.
