James L. Cox, 81, of East Moline, IL, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the service and burial of cremains will be at Rose-Lawn Memorial Estates at a later date. Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Hospitals.
James was born on February 16, 1931 in Moline, IL, the son of John H. and Eva Pauline (Hensley) Cox. He married Betty Baney on January 29, 1955 in Moline. She and James were just a couple weeks away from their 58th Wedding Anniversary. James worked as a Tool & Die Maker for John Deere Harvester, East Moline, retiring in 1985. He was a United States Navy Veteran. James enjoyed motorcycle repair, fishing and hunting, as well as boating and tinkering around the house.
