James Dekezel, 61 of Colona passed away July 6, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 12, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post # 246. Memorials may be made to James' family for a fund to be established.
James was born on July 3, 1949 in Moline to Hector and Marie Calant Dekezel. He married Kathy Wadkins on November 29, 1980 in Rock Island.
James retired from John Deere in 2003 and in 2004 he became a Deere Coordinator at the visitor center in East Moline Harvester Works. He enjoyed traveling and camping. He owned his own woodworking business, AMS Services, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and papa to his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Coal Valley Masonic Lodge # 547. He enjoyed playing jokes on his family and friends.
