James Robert Halley

James Robert Halley, 84, of Colona, IL, died March 10, 2018, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James was born on September 1, 1933, in Unionville, MO, the son of Lawrence and Leta Smith Halley.  He married Beverly Jean Farnsworth on January 26, 1954, in Unionville, MO; she preceded him in death on March 17, 2006.  He was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  James spent his career working for Alcoa for 36 years, retiring in 1995.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at Lake Thunderhead in Unionville, MO.

Survivors include children, Jeanie Lynn (Steve) Edwards, Las Vegas, NV, Randy Halley, Port Byron, IL, Janice Lee (Roger) Ward, Silvis, IL, and Joyce Dian Boyd, Silvis, IL; grandchildren, Steve Edwards, Robert Boyd, Jr., Craig Edwards, James Ward, Casey Boyd, and Taylor Sue Halley; great grandchildren, Nicholas Edwards, Cady Edwards, Catlyn Boyd, Molly Ward, and Avery Sellers; great great Grandchildren, Casen Dale Andersen and Emilia Young; sister, Phyllis Ann (Donald) Dye, Beloit, WI; brother, Eugene Ray Halley, Beloit, WI; sister-in-law, Jean Carol Halley, Roscoe, IL; and brother-in-law, Neil (Jane) Farnsworth, Knoxville, TN.

James was also survived by his favorite uncle, Billy Dan Halley, Rock Island, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; 3 sisters, Mary Lou Dole, Virginia Lee Adkins, and Alice Kay Sterling; brother, Lawrence Edmond Halley; and sister-in-law, Beverly Halley.
