James Terrance "Terry" Hambelton, 74, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully with his entire family by his side on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Trinity ICU in Rock Island following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name.
James was born on August 18, 1938, in Peoria, IL, the son of J.B. and Esther Hambelton of Hamilton, IL. Terry was an avid Cardinals and Bears fan and he and his wife Sherry ran their own business in their retirement years called S&H Amusement of East Moline. Prior to getting involved with that, Terry worked at John Deere Harvest Plant on the Combine line for over 30 years.
His interests were his teams and shooting, as he was a long standing member of the Bi-State Gun Club in Colona, IL. He received many awards for his shooting and devoted a lot of his retirement years to the sport and club. He leaves behind many special friends at his club to include Tim Kelly, Don Smith, Don Love and Bruce. Other really special friends that have been a tremendous help during the last few months to both Sherry and Terry were Wayne and Sherry Lewis, Judy and Doug Bowser, and sister, Pam and Brother-in-law, Mike Brown of Taylor Ridge and Aunt Patty and Uncle Manny of Ottumwa, IA.
Terry also leaves behind his beloved wife, Sherry K. Hambelton of 25 years; children, Tammy (Scott) Reilly of Milan, Tracy Gayheart of Port Byron, and Troy Hambelton of Hillsdale. Grandchildren include, Cpl. Daniel E. Reilly, Cheyenne and Dillon Hambelton, and Cody Gayheart. Niece, Andrea Elliott and Shannon Beasley, and great Niece, Kaylea Elliott-Roessler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and J.B. Hambelton, and in-law's, Ruth and Earl F. Beasley.
