James D. Hilburn, 72, of Port Byron, IL, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at home, following an accident.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, MO.
James was born on April 2, 1945, in Ironton, MO, the son of Lloyd G. and Izilla Wolcott Hilburn. He married Bertha Schaumberg and she preceded him in death in August of 1995. He later married Kandy Fuhlman on December 28, 1996, in Hillsdale. He and his brothers owned and operated Hilburn Trucking, Inc. based in Independence, MO.
James enjoyed his friends and family and was a father figure to many.
Survivors include his wife, Kandy Hilburn; children, Michael, Nikki (Andy), Patti, Tommy (Dawn), Daniel (Cass), Joshua (Amy), Bart (Gina), Andrew (Emmalee); 11 grandchildren; brothers, Glenn (Beverly), Ronald (Karen), David (Kathleen), and Jerry (Kathy); sister, Barbara (Glenn); several nieces and nephews.
