James A. Madison, Sr. age 87, of East Moline, Saturday, died April 24, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Visitation is Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline.
James was born March 25, 1923 to Ada Nicholson Madison and Horse Madison in DeKalb, MS. He married Beatrice Moody Madison on October 27, 1945 in DeKalb, MS. He moved to East Moline in 1951.
James worked at the former Farmall Plant in Rock Island and the Silvis Railroad. James was a craftsman's assistant with the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1987 after 30 years. After retiring, he worked for (LSG) Logistic Support Group for 4 years at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, daughter, Darlene Dortch, sons, James (Luria) Madison, LaVern (Joyce) Madison; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his daughters Corene Madison & Ada Madison-McCorkle, parents, 10 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 grandson.
