James "Jim" Omer Raes, 63, of New Windsor, died May 22, 2007 at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Visitation will be Friday from 2-7 p.m at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Orion American Legion Post # 255 Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Jim was born August 19, 1943 in Geneseo to Omer and Ruby Kincaid Raes. He married Marilyn Johnson in 1966. He later married Sharon Johnson on April 23, 1982 in Galesburg.
Jim graduated from Illinois State Police Academy and was employed as a State Trooper retiring in 1993. He then became the Police Chief of New Windsor. He was also a Deputy for Hardin County. Jim was currently employed with the Henry County Sheriffs Department working security for the Henry County Courthouse.
He was U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid motorcyclist, he loved to ride. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, hunting, gardening, rappelling, campfires and just being outdoors.
