Memorial services for Janet Drobner, 86, a resident of East Moline, will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at First Christian Church, East Moline, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline, is assisting the family. Janet passed away at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. on Saturday, October 15,2005, after a brief illness.
Janet Aldine Burzell was born March 12, 1919, the daughter of Marion F. and Viola J. (Wicke) Burzell. She married Lewis Gerth in Kahoka, Missouri, in 1938 and they had one son, Bruce, in 1940. She married W.A. Thompson in 1949. She later married Joseph Drobner in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Janet was an active and outgoing woman, belonging to the Women's Club of East Moline, American Legion Auxiliary of East Moline, Order of the Eastern Star Rose Chapter # 626, First Christian Church of East Moline, and the Illini Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crochet, quilting, embroidery, and other crafts, as well as the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, rarely missing a televised game. Her family and friends were most important to her, and she especially loved her card games and luncheons with her friends, the holidays, and spending time with her family.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of East Moline or to the Illini Hospital Auxiliary.
Those left to honor her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Traci Gerth, LeClaire, IA; granddaughters and their husbands, Kelli and Mark Lepensky, Woodbridge, CT. and Stephanie and Scott Bailey, Pella. IA; great grandchildren Christopher, Gabrielle, Connor, and Grace Lepensky , and Joseph, Lauren, Peter, and Joshua Bailey.
