Janis C. Brooks

Janis C. Brooks, 71, of Troy, MO, formerly of Moline, IL, died unexpectedly, March 16, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Troy, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline.  Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. until the service, at the funeral home.  A private burial will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buddy Bags, 951 W. College, Troy, MO 63379.  Buddy Bags is a weekend food program that feeds 300 children each weekend.

Janis was born on October 15, 1946, in the Chicago area, the daughter of Harold A. and Berniece M. Wildermuth Thorngren.  She married Michael Brooks on June 14, 1969.

She was a volunteer at Lincoln Elementary. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and crocheting.  She was raised in Moline and later moved to Wisconsin and last lived with her daughter in Troy, MO.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Mike, Elkhorn, WI; children, Jay Brooks, South Milwaukee, WI, and Carolyn (Jeff) Hofmann, Troy, MO; grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Nichole and William Hofmann, all of Troy, MO, and Lisa (Drew) Owens, Delavan, WI, Steven (David) Agnew-Hofmann, Elkhorn, WI; great grandchildren, Mathew and Rosetta Owens, both of Delavan, WI; and brother, Philip Thorngren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Ruth A.Thorngren
