Javier Contreras

Javier “JC” ”Javi” Contreras, 53, of East Moline, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60 Street, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 Avenue, Moline with a Rosary recited at 3:45 p.m.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline.  Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Javier was born on November 26, 1962 in Laredo, Texas the son of Sebastian and Rosa Rangel Contreras Sr.  Javier graduated from UTHS and later from St. Ambrose University.  He was employed as a Financial Analyst on the Rock Island Arsenal for over 25 years.  He was active with the St. Ambrose University’s Alumni Association and the Illinois Humane Society.  During the holidays, Javier volunteered with the King’s Harvest Ministries to feed the homeless.  Javier loved playing tennis, watching movies and the Christmas season.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family and playing with his dogs.
