Jean M. Smith, 89 of Orion, passed away on December 25, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 9 Street, Orion, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4 Street, Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.
Jean was born on May 21, 1927 in Orion, Illinois the daughter of Clyde M. and Desyl R. Gorey Coulter. She married Roy Charles Smith on January 28, 1947 in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1999.
Jean was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion and years ago worked at the bakery in town.
Jean is survived by her sons, Clifford A. (Jean) Smith, Princeton, Illinois, Guy W. Smith, Orion, Illinois, Charles E. (Georgia) Smith, Lynn Center, Illinois, and Dale W. (Janet) Smith, Princeton, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Mary Lou Dopler, Hampton, Illinois; sister-in-law, Rosa Smith, Galesburg, IL; brothers-in-law, Harvey Smith, Galesburg, IL, and Harold Smith, Galva, IL.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and 2 brothers, Richard and Robert.
