Jeanette "Stoner" Bender

Jeanette Bender, 65, of Orion, formerly of Indianola, IA passed away with her family by her side Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 2-5 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Funeral services celebrating Jeanette's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Perry, IA. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, IA. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Born Jeanette Stoner on July 12, 1944 in Perry, IA, the daughter of Edward and Nadine, Jeanette worked for a while in her father's meat market. She married her high school sweetheart Ronald Bender of Perry, IA in 1963 and lived for a time in Des Moines, later moving to Indianola, where she raised her family. She worked alongside her husband for a number of years in a local grocery store and retired in 1992.
Jeanette loved to cruise with her husband and visited many exciting ports of call including several Caribbean islands, Hawaii, Mexico, Central America, Tahiti and Alaska. She enjoyed antiquing and adding to her collection of vintage pottery. She loved all animals and was devoted to her dogs. Jeanette's true passion was cooking and she always kept her family full, never wanting for more.
The family is grateful for the professionalism, care and compassion Jeanette received from her medical team, particularly the staff at the office of Dr. Stewart Garneau.
Jeanette is survived by devoted husband Ron; her children, Kent (Pam), Missouri and Kevin (Jeff), Illinois; grandchildren, Brad, Kirby, and Kelsi; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Drew.
