Jeanette D. House, 93, of Moline, passed away, June 30, 2024, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday July 8, 2024, at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.
Jeanette was born on January 29, 1931, in Garden Plain, Illinois, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Hook) Bush. She married Samuel Thomas House on October 22, 1954, in Moline, IL. He preceded her in death in 1984. Jeanette had previously been employed as a secretary with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department and the Rock Island Arsenal. She had also worked as a secretary with Dr. Rauba. Jeanette was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday school. She also attended Elim Covenant, her neighborhood church, during her last few years. Her faith was incredibly important to her and she read her devotions daily. She enjoyed going to the library, reading, baking and music. Jeanette took great pride in taking care of her home and her family. She was extremely thoughtful and acknowledged everyone on their birthday.
Survivors include her daughters, Lora Sweeney (David), Beth House (Ken Bower); 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel; son, Mark; grandson, Brian; and all of her siblings.
