CASAD, Former Federal Civil Service Chief, Rock Island Arsenal dies.
Jeanice C. Casad, 1789-28th Ave., Moline died August 27, 2006. A memorial service will be Thursday, Auugust 31, 2006 at First Congregational Church (2201-7th Ave., Moline). Friends and family are invited after the service, to the Colonial Parlor of the church for a time of remembrance and sharing. Burial will be at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Red Wagon Day Care School of that church; or to a favorite charity. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is handling the arrangements.
Jeanice Jenkins Casad was a native of Moline, the daughter of Blanche Edna and Frank Jenkins, deceased. She graduated from Moline High School and School of Comptometry, Davenport, IA. She married John R. Casad on May 14, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1970.
Mrs. Casad was employed with the U.S. Federal Government in Personnel Management at Rock Island Arsenal as Executive Chief of the Board of Civil Service Examiners from where she retired. She worked on various charity fund drives at the Arsenal and served on various boards for Equal Opportunity Employment, Employment of the Handicapped, Jr. Achievement, etc.
Mrs. Casad was a member of First Congregational Church for more than 50 years and served on the Red Wagon Day Care School Board, Mailing Committee, Floral Service and Mary Martha Guilds. She was a member of the Rock Island Arsenal Officers' Club; Lady Elks, where she was active in their cancer work and various other projects; Vikings Club; and Moline Turner Society where she was an accomplished gymnast attending and participating in seven National Competition Meets. She was a national and local member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and served on the local board of Rock Island Chapter #338. She was a member of the National American Association of Retired Persons; (AARP) and past member of the Rock Island Arsenal 15-year Club, the Rock Island Woman's Club, the Lady Elks Bowling League and Davenport Caldron.
