Jeanie M. Gengler, 77, of Coal Valley, passed away Monday October 28, 2024, at her home.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday November 4, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 220 E 22nd Ave, Coal Valley, IL. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday November 3rd, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. The burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Jeanie was born on December 1, 1946, in Moline, the daughter of Lonnie and Lula (James) Lamberson. She married Daniel E. Gengler on March 18, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline. Jeanie worked side by side with her husband at DJ Painting, a company they started together. She was an active member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, taught CCD, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved with the former Lady’s Guild. She also assisted in pastoral care at the former Franciscan Hospital with Father Purcell, and at the former Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley. Jeanie was a devoted homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, and had a talent with ceramics. She liked to tend to her flowers, watch butterflies and hummingbirds, and have outdoor picnics and campfires.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel; children, Shemain (Trae) Myers, Moline, Vonna (Gregory) Neal, East Moline, Leah (Ed) Crouch, Indianapolis, IN; 12 grandchildren; many wonderful great grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Bob) and Martha “Marti” (Margaret); and brother, Wally.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Matthew and Thomas; daughter, Madonna Stegemann; three grandchildren; and brother, Bob.
