Jerry G. Barnett, age 67, of Orion, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, 7th Street Campus, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Orion. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
Jerry was born September 6, 1941 in Mercer, MO. the son of Hugh and Florence ( Prula) Barnett. He married Diana Czupka in June, 1965 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death in April, 1981. He later married Alice Leary-McKahan on April 30, 1988 in Davenport.
Jerry was employed as a senior product designer for John Deere, retiring in 1994 after 28 years. He started his career in design at Red Jacket Pump in Davenport as a high school student. Jerry was an avid bowler in the 60's, 70's and the 80's. He enjoyed going to Quad City Downs and handicapping the horse races and harness races. Jerry was a Green Bay Packers fan and loved spending time with his family, and having an annual family hog roast on Memorial Day weekend.
