Jerry L. Drowns, 62, of Milan, died October 7, 2008 in Aledo.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion 569/200 and Rock Island VFW 1303. Memorials may be made to his family.
Jerry was born October 11, 1945 in Doniphan, MO to Wilson and Olive (Brooks) Drowns. He married Mary Jacobs Wilhelm on December 31, 1976 in Rock Island.
Jerry started his career at American Air Filter in Moline and later went to Tri -City Fabrication in Davenport as a welder and machinist. He retired in April of 2008 from McLaughlin Auto and Body, Moline as a machinist.
Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend.
