Sensei Jesse E. Mills, 71, of East Moline, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his home.
Memorial service will be 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M., prior to the service at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jesse was born on February 22, 1940 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Albert and Gladys A. Nail Davis. He was later adopted by William Mills. He married Dodie Spencer on November 13, 1959 in Aiken, South Carolina. They later divorced, but have remained close friends throughout the years.
Jesse was a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for 31 years retiring in 1990. Jesse was an Army Veteran having served from 1959 - 1962. Since his time in the service he was heavily involved in Martial Arts and was the owner and operator of Quint Cities Judo & Karate where he was loved and respected by his many students. He was former member of the Moline Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1112. He also enjoyed fishing. He will be missed by all of his loyal students, family and friends.
