Jim Goings

James “Jim” W. Goings, 91, of Milan, Illinois, passed away Tuesday August 29, 2023.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Bethany Cemetery in Philadelphia, Missouri in care of Dana Smith, 4466 Gottman Lane Palmyra, Missouri 63461-3101. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Jim was born on June 4, 1932, in Fall Creek, Illinois, the son of Rolla and Paulina Mae (Kinder) Goings. He married Rosa Lee Redmon on November 13, 1954, in Shelbyville, Missouri.

He was previously employed as a metallurgist with Deere & Co., retiring in 1986. Jim loved hunting, fishing, traveling, camping and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed coaching baseball, playing cards and watching his beloved Dodgers and Illini basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rosa; children, Linda (Fred) Phillips of Valley Stream, New York, Diana (Kevin) McCabe of Hillsdale, Illinois, Bill (Carol) Goings of Colona, Illinois, Donna (James) Stewart of Illinois City, Illinois; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and two brothers.
