Joan Elaine (Swisher) Carlson

Joan E. Carlson, 88, of Moline passed away on April 1, 2017 at Avonlea Cottage in Milan.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Avonlea Cottage & Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church.

Joan was born on August 17, 1928 in Mankato, MN the daughter of Marcus and Margaret Taylor Swisher.  She married Kenneth F. Carlson on August 3, 1951 in Moline, he preceded her in death on April 11, 2005.

Joan was self employed as a hair dresser for 20 years but took great pride in being a housewife, mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the Clara Lodge No. 118, Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church and the King’s Daughters.
