Joan Evelyn Jackson-Turner, 86, of Moline, passed away December 9, 2024, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday December 20, 2024, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. at the church with an AKA and Links service to begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society.
Joan was born on March 16, 1938, in Picayune Mississippi, the daughter of Booker and Clara Mae (Galloway) Malone. She married Willie Turner on November 17, 2001, in Moline. Joan had been employed as a third-grade teacher at Eugene Field and Grant Schools in Rock Island, retiring on June 12, 2002. Joan had 35 years of dedicated service to the Rock Island-Milan School District. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Links Inc., and Alpha Delta Kappa an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators.
Survivors include her husband, Willie; daughter, Patricia Turner; grandchild, Jaylen Gore; siblings, Charles (Bertha) Malone, Clara McCann, Ida M. Tall, and Doris McClain.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Louis Malone and Mattie Pearl Mark.
