JoAnn Humphrey

JoAnn Humphrey, 80, of Moline, IL, died Monday, November 20, 2017, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with a visitation from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

JoAnn was born on July 14, 1937, in Rusk, TX, the daughter of Charlie and Cleona Dixon Jones, Sr.  She married Warren Humphrey in Coal Valley in 1986 and he preceded her in death in August of 2011.  She worked for Servus Rubber and later as a seamstress.  She went on to work for Help at Home in Moline, a career that she loved and retired from in 2012.

JoAnn and her husband were snowbirds and enjoyed traveling the south west area.  They were also members of the Good Samaritan Club.  She enjoyed crafts, cooking, the outdoors, fishing, and woodworking. JoAnn especially loved to sew things for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Ann Meadows, Raleigh-Durham, NC, Douglas (Cindy) Leyendecker, Taylor Ridge, IL, John (Merry) Leyendecker, Carbon Cliff, IL, Barb (Don) Hutchreson, Coal Valley, IL, and Carolyn (Dean) Johnson, Spear Fish, WY; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Sloyan, Bradenton, FL, and Etta Adams, Kennesaw, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; sons, Stanley A. Leyendecker, Jr. and Clifford Leyendecker; brother, Charlie Jones.
