JoAnn Lyss, 78, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at "Sunrise on the Scioto" in Columbus.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline
Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
JoAnn was born September 12, 1931 in Malmo, Nebraska to Joe and Amelia (Thege) Vrana. She married Ronald Lyss on June 9, 1956 in Lincoln, NE.
JoAnn was a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. She was a teacher for rural schools in Nebraska. When she moved to Moline she was a substitute teacher for the Moline School District. She later worked for the VNA.
JoAnn was a current member of Westside Assembly Church, Davenport where she played the piano and organ. She was a former member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline where she also played piano, and organ and was a member of the hand bell choir. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and watching birds. She also recorded Christian music with her two sisters.
