Jo Anne Frenell

Jo Anne Frenell, 88, of Barstow, IL, passed away peacefully in her sleep, November 14, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline, IL.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Jo Anne was born on December 31, 1934, in Harris, MO, the daughter of Grace V. Michael and Gulley B. Ogle. She married Granville “Pete” Frenell on February 12, 1955, in Moline, IL. Jo Anne loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports, as she loved playing softball in her younger years. She helped out at church, working in the kitchen with dinner and dishes. She loved working with every child in the nursery. Jo Anne was also a Pack Leader in the Cub Scouts, as well as an Awana Leader for 3rd and 4th grade girls. She volunteered at the Illini Hospital Auxiliary, and she was an Auxiliary member for the Barstow Fire Department.

Survivors include her children Chuck (Connie) Frenell of Barstow, Mary Anne (Dean) Mason of Davenport, and Jason Frenell of Barstow; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete, sons Denny and Bruce, parents, and 7 siblings.
