Joe I. Navarro, age 81, of Moline, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, Moline.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation is 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis or Heartland Hospice.
Joe was born April 20, 1929 in Utica, IL, the son of Geronimo and Maria (Davila) Navarro. He married Jacqueline Jenkins on January 11, 1947. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2005. .He then married Dora Nache on August 25, 2006.
Joe was employed as a machinist for John Deere Plow & Planter for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline for 76 years, and was currently a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Silvis. Joe loved to travel, was an avid golfer and loved sports of all kinds. He was a die hard Moline High School fan. Joe was a founding member of the Mexican American Golfer's Association of the Quad Cities, where just last month he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
