John “Jay” Bekker, 51, of Moline, IL, died December 21, 2017, in Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline. Visitation will be an hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jay was born on April 8, 1966 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jerome M. Bekker and Barbara J. Mizicko. He married Laurie Hayes on November 19, 1988, in Bloomington. They later divorced. Jay last worked at Home Depot in Davenport, IA. His family was very important to him and he was very proud to be Grumps to his granddaughter, Stella.
Survivors include his son, Jonathon Bekker, Greencastle, IN; daughter, Ivy (Cody) Shoultz, Davenport, IA; parents, Jerome and Barbara, Mokena, IL; granddaughter, Stella; brothers, Jeb (Christa) Bekker, Canton, MI, Brad Bekker, Mokena, IL; sister, Barbara (Helen Bowen) Flassig, Stover, MO; many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Laurie Hayes, Bloomington.
