John M. Bielefeldt, 63, of Rock Island, IL, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
A celebration of John’s Life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, with a time of sharing to be held at 6 p.m. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
John was born on January 7, 1953, in Davenport, IA, the son of James M. and Margaret K. Fitzgibbon Bielefeldt. He worked as a speech pathologist for UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, for over 40 years.
John spent his career working at numerous Trinity locations. He was involved in numerous organizations supporting speech disorders and speech pathology. John had a passion for his profession and was loved and respected by his clients, peers, and coworkers. He was past president of the Illinois Speech and Hearing Association, the Closed Head Injury Association, and the Quad Cities American Cancer Society. John was head of the Quad Cities Laryngectomy Group.
John was also an active thespian with the Genesius Guild in Rock Island.
Survivors include his sisters, Angela (Michael) White, Davenport, IA, and Mary (Paul) Naslund, Raleigh, NC; brother, Jim (Honda) Bielefeldt, Branchburg, NJ; surrogate son.
, Jesse Madison, Illinois City, IL; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
