John D. Foust, Sr. age 98, of Rock Island, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Visitation is from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Bethel Assembly of God, 3535-38th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Trinity Health Foundation's Hospice Program.
John was born March 12, 1913 in Willis, OK, the son of Samuel and Sallie Bowling Foust. He married Gertrude L. Sorrels on June 19, 1946 in Rush Springs, OK. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2011.
John was employed as a welder for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Mt. Joy, IA retiring in 1975 after 12 1/2 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. John was past president of the Davenport Caterpillar Retirees Club. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Rock Island. John was a teacher's helper with deaf students for nine years at Lincoln-Irving School in Moline.
