John Elmer Irwin, age 88, of East Moline, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1307, 17th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. on Monday with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the family or to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
John was born August 16, 1924 in Rock Island, the son of William and Beulah Wildermuth. He married Donna Smet on June 25, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline.
John was employed as a foreman at I.H. Farmall Works for 22 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. John was an Army veteran of WW II. He loved playing golf, square dancing, coaching Little League, camping, traveling and spending time with family.
