John W. Kakavas,76, of Moline died Saturday, February7,2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline,IL. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island.
John was born October 25, 1927 in Pekin, IL, to George Kakavas and Clara Mariuzza Kakavas. He married Dorothy Roman on August 26, 1951 at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline.
John was employed for 33 years as an Industrial Engineer at John Deere Plow Planter, retiring in December 20, 1984.
John was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He loved traveling and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He dedicated his life to his wife and 6 children.
