John Melahn

John Melahn, formerly of Silvis, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 7th, 2019.

Memorial Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.

John was born to Louis and Elsie Melahn on March 28th, 1938 in Elgin, IL. He was a civilian employee for the government working at the Joliet Arsenal until 1972 when he transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal where he retired in 1995.

John enjoyed fishing, playing cards, golf, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends at Panera. John loved to try new restaurants and always wanted to do more traveling.

John is survived by four children: Laura (Kyle) Littlejohn of Sandwich, IL; Jasen (Kris) Melahn of Elwood, IL; Michlene Melahn of Plainfield, IL; and Jodi Melahn of East Moline, IL; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Leipold of Ottawa, IL and Diana (Jim) Dawson of Minooka, IL; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and David.
