John F. Saben, 56, of Orion, IL, died Friday, October 20, 2017, at home.
A gathering of family and friends will be held beginning at 1 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his daughter’s home at 7445 US Hwy 6, Geneseo. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to his family. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family.
John was born on March 27, 1961, in Monmouth, IL, the son of Donald L. and Madelyn (Scott) Saben.
John began his career an autobody repairman at an early age working with his father before going to work for the former Augie & Earls in Orion and later at Mills Chevrolet in Moline. He enjoyed rock & roll seventies music, grilling and cooking. John was a generous man who always helped those who were down on their luck. He also loved spending time with and taking care of his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Saben of Orion, Elizabeth (Matt) Nicholson of Geneseo; 9 grandchildren; sisters, Wendy (Gary) Emmons of New Windsor, Donna (Steve) Green of Davenport; brother, Roger Saben of Dallas City, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lynn and brother Gary.
