John "Jack" M. Samuelson, 95, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, June 04, 2015, at St. Anthony's Nursing & Rehabilitation, Rock Island, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Moody Bible Institute. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jack was born on June 18, 1919, in Moline, IL, the son of John T. and Lydia E. Edstrom Samuelson. He studied for 3 years at the Moody Bible Institute. He worked as a postal clerk for the Rock Island Post Office and later for AMCCOM at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Jack was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and Korea. He entered into service on July 29, 1943, in Camp Grant, IL, and was honorably discharged on January 7, 1946. Later, Jack re-entered into service on October 24, 1950, at fort Lewis, WA, and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1951, at Fort Custer, MI.
He loved spending time at the Village Inn at City Line Plaza in Moline, where he would enjoy good food and and great friendships with the staff.
Survivors include his several cousins and Village Inn family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
