John E. Schenk

John E. Schenk, 84, of Orion, IL, passed away, March 19, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion. A private family burial will be at Chapel Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the John Schenk Memorial Fund, benefitting the Orion Fall Festival.

John was born on August 19, 1940, in Moline, IL, the son of Erwin and Ann (Beede) Schenk. He married and separated from Marsha Twing; he later married Margery A. (Stropes) Schenk in April 1989, in Orion, IL. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2021. John loved cars and was a Pontiac enthusiast. He worked as an auto mechanic for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. John was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church and was in the National Guard.

Survivors include his sons, James (Margo) Schenk and David (Jennifer) Schenk; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Claudia) Schenk.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margery; parents, Erwin and Ann; brother, R. Michael Schenk.
