John Howard Swiger, 67, of Orion, died December 4, 2009 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Beulah Presbyterian Church, Orion. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.
John was born October 19, 1942 in Aledo to Howard Wendell and Marjorie Evelyn (Catlett) Swiger. He married E. Diane Langford on July 19, 1964 in Montpelier, ID.
From 1964-1984 he worked for Farmall, Rock Island leaving as a foreman when it closed. From 1985-1999 he owned and operated Swiger Foods, Milan and from 1999-2009 he was employed for the Orion School district as a bus driver.
A member of Beulah Presbyterian Church he also served as an elder. He was a Boy Scout leader for Orion Troop #123. He enjoyed working in his hosta garden. John was very close with his children and grandchildren and was a man that all children admired and respected.
